Uncoupled

Uncoupled

This work observes the fragile boundaries between presence and absence in the urban night. After relocating from Queensland to Melbourne, I became attuned to the subtle distances that shape daily life, where closeness does not guarantee connection. The city becomes a stage for solitude, illuminated by the soft glow of windows and passing lights.

Moving through these spaces, I observe figures momentarily revealed yet emotionally unreachable. The photographs are candid and voyeuristic, capturing strangers suspended in private worlds that sit alongside one another without intersecting.

The images speak to a contemporary condition where connection is promised but rarely fulfilled. They reflect a collective loneliness that unfolds quietly, even in the company of many.
